Tracing relations between the works of Anna Halprin and Simone Forti – their impact upon the aesthetics of the Judson Dance Theater – this essay thinks through the ecological imperative of these works as it reformulates choreography and objecthood. Janevski and Lax’s book, which accompanied a major retrospective of Judson at MoMA, also contains essays from Danielle Goldman, Julia Robinson, Malik Gaines, Benjamin Piekut, Kristin Poor, Gloria Sutton, Sharon Hayes and others.
